.

I remembered to bring my workout watch today when I went to the gym. I didn't turn it on until I was on the elliptical, so all those stairs (5) and the bike ride there wasn't added to the workout.

But anyway. I know this is the "second-day-back-at-gym-energy" and that if I go back tomorrow I will be dead (not going back tomorrow, rest day - back on Friday then two days off since I'm going to dads).

It feels soooooooo good. Yesterday I did 20 on the elliptical and then went through some of the usual exercises to get a feel of the machines. It takes a few visits to get used to those slight differences and to know just how to adjust each machine to fit you just right. But yesterday I did pulldowns wide and narrow grip, rows, chest, flies, glute machine and leg presses.

I did the same thing today but with the machines I prefer.

* 20 min treadmill, level 10 or 12 (5 min on 12 total). About 240 cal according to machine.
* 5m30s treadmill, incline 10 and speed 4.2. That nearly killed me, man did it ever hit the glutes. Wow.
* Pulldowns, wide grip. 3x12x70lbs
* Pulldows, narrow grip, 2x10x70lbs
* Chest press, 2x12x60, 1x12x75
* Rows (machine) 2x12x60, 1x12x75
* Flies, 2x12x40, 1x10x55
* Leg presses 2x26x190, 1x22x210

I brought my workout watch/heart rate watch today so I actually know how much I burned... I forgot to bring stuff so I could write down how many calories I burned per exercise and what my average pulse was, but next time. I'm not really sure what to do about that stuff anyway, but I'm sure you can see the difference in pulse etc as you work out and get physically stronger. I know that my pulse was about 168-174 while on the elliptical, and when I was doing legpresses it was around 150. At some point it was 130 but I don't remember what I was doing then, probably flies. But, in 55 minutes I burned 450 calories, and by the time I made it home I had burned 550 calories. I say that's pretty good.

I'm liking the gym more and more. Its very spacious and they have two of the most common machines, six kinds of lat pulldowns (two machines w the stiff "arms," two regular one where you can change the bar, and four that you can change so you can do pretty much anything you want, ie pulldowns, rows, legs etc etc. They have more of everything than any gym I've ever been to, even NYSC (I went to two locations when I was a member there). They have 6 treadmills, 6 ellipticals, 6 step machines/stair climbers, donno how many stationary bikes but probably the same amount, and then two full size row machines... and probably more that I haven't paid attention to yet.
They also have the smith bar so once I get down some in weight I'll get going on that again. I haven't been to the free wights area but I'm sure it's great, too. They also have a stretch area with all kind of equipment for that, so to say I'm happy I joined this gym is to put it mildly.

Anyway... feels good to be back to the gym. Now it's time for dinner (fun stuff, salmon and cauliflower) and then a bath... today I'm sore so I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more today.
